Active Marinas Programme off to a flying start
The
RYA Active Marinas programme got off to a flying start with a boat handling
workshop. Nimrodel and Summertime were used to demonstrate various boat
handling skills before participants took to their own boats on Sunday
to gain confidence moving around the confines of the marina.
RYA instructors were on board to give guidance and tuition to those taking part.
For
me, the weekend was a great success. The rain just about held off (we
only got caught out once) and the winds were favourable.
Our instructor Martin was jovial, friendly and completely unflappable!
Ron Fry stepped into his shoes for my last couple of attempts to berth
Quicksilver !
The course has boosted my confidence and given me the outside encouragement
I needed to take the helm in close quarters. There are more courses
planned for the rest of the season.
Take advantage of them – they can
be custom made to suit your own needs and having an instructor on your
own boat is a huge bonus! Hilary Morgan - Quicksilver
