Racing Programme & News
Each year the Tollesbury Cruising Club organises a complete
programme of race events, you can find details on the
Programme page of this web site.
The Rear Commodore - David Knight organises all the club races.
His contact details, for all enquiries about racing, are to be found on the
Committee page.
The ethos behind our club racing is primarily to have fun, but by
competing against other members, it can develop your sailing skill,
and awareness, thus making us better sailors.

Racing Programme
The club has a programme of 10 races in every year and these are for all comers, both new and old hands. Some are passage races to another club or destination, others a tactical race around the cans, and we also have a Pursuit race, where we are given an individual start time, but then hopefully all cross the finish line in very quick succession. There is a race for female helms and another for all female-crewed boats. Also my intention for the 2008 season is to develop The Teddy Bear Race into a family fun event where our younger members are encouraged by having an age related “advantage” handicap.
Three of the Races are Inter Club events, this is where we challenge the Tollesbury Sailing Club to the Wallet Long Race, they then challenge us to The Kings Head Cup, but as members of The Wallet Ball Association we compete in The Wallet Shield. This race is a team event and the fastest three boats from any of the competing clubs wins the shield for the club.
The dates and times for the races are in the programme but please keep a keen eye on the club notice board and this web site for any changes that may be beyond our control!
