Photo Resizing

First consider how large is your photo file ? Files up to 5 Mb can be uploaded but these large files can make viewing very slow, as the images will take a long time to download. Please use the Image Resizer tool (link on the main tool bar above) or a photo editor to resize the photo before uploading to the forum. A width of 1280 pixels is fine for most photos, and allows a high quality display.

How Add an Photo (or image) to a post

You have to upload the photo at any time before submitting the post. At bottom of the topic entry form, click 'Upload Attachment' then browse on your PC for the file. You can add a image title in the 'File Comment' box. Click 'add the file' and it will be uploaded, The page will reload. Put the cursor where you want the photo, and click 'Place inline' and the system will insert some code. If you click 'Preview' you will see the photo in the post. Complete the text etc. and Preview/Submit as you would with any other posting. You can have up to two attachments (photos, images or files) in any posting.

Photo Display in the Forum

Photos (and images) are automatically resized after being uploaded so that they always fit neatly on the screen. The full size photo is linked to the small image on the screen, just click on the small photo, and the full size photo will be downloaded into a new window in your browser.

Photo Re-sizing on your PC (Windows only)

If you do not have any favourite photo editing tools, the free Image Resizer utility from http://imageresizer.codeplex.com/ works very well; all you have to do is right click a photo file and select 'Resize' from the menu to open the Resizer tool.

Add a File Attachment to a post, for example a .pdf, .doc or .xls file

You have to upload the file at any time before submitting the post. At bottom of the topic entry form, click 'Upload Attachment' then browse on your PC for the file. You can add a file title in the 'File Comment' box. Click 'add the file' and it will be uploaded, The page will reload. Put the cursor where you want the file link, and click 'Place inline' and the system will insert some code. If you click 'Preview' you will see the file link, and a title if you added one, in the post. Complete the text etc. and Preview/Submit as you would with any other posting. You can have up to three attachments (images or files) in any posting. You can upload files of up to 5Mb, but please be cautious as large files will take a long time to download to a users computer.

Link to URL - another web site for instance

If you type a URL into your post, it will be displayed automatically in your submitted post as an active link. To be sure however that long URL's are correctly displayed, you should use the URL button on the editing bar, and enclose the URL in tags.
