Cruise to Shotley with MLSC and Steve Rix Race 13/14 October 2018

Post by davidprentis » September 5th, 2018, 8:39 pm

We will be having the 3rd of our joint events with our friends from MLSC on 13 October (HW1538).

This will be a cruise to Shotley with a meal at a location to be determined.

On the Sunday we will run the Steve Rix race.

Robin has kindly agreed to make the berthing and meal booking arrangements. Please indicate your interest in attending, whether you intend to race and numbers for the meal by posting on this forum or contacting any Committee member.

Polo will be taking part with two on board. I have reserved the linear G pontoon for the event. I suggest we book The Shipwreck for an evening meal as we had good service there during our visit on the Late Summer Cruise. The other option of The Bristol Arms is a bit of an unknown at the moment, as I read somewhere that it changed hands earlier this year. Has anyone had any recent experience?

Thanks for reserving the pontoon. Yes I agree with Shipwreck plan. It will be a bit late by the time we arrive so staying in marina is good plan.

We are being joined by 5 boats from Maldon Little Ships, so we are now 11 boats and 21 to dine at The Shipwreck. When I made the provisional booking at The Shipwreck I anticipated 12/14 diners! I have telephoned them this evening to increase the numbers and, although they have not said they cannot accommodate the extra numbers, they will only have one chef working as the other has booked a holiday. Long delays would be inevitable.
I have therefore made an additional booking at The Bristol Arms, again for approx 12/14 diners. Both venues are booked for 8.00pm.
How we mix who is going where, I suggest we leave until we get into Shotley but if we can work a 50/50 mix of members at both venues, it would be nice. It's not ideal but the best I can come up with.
Rob.
p.s. Mandy, Could you let Kev know?
